New Delhi, Jun 21: Railways celebrated International Day of Yoga on Friday in Rail Bhavan, all Zonal Railway Headquarters, Divisional Railway Offices, Production Units and Railway Training Institutes and Centres, and all other Railway establishments.
Union Minister for Railways and Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal participated in the Yoga session along with Union Minister of Law & Justice, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on the occasion at Lodhi Garden, here.
Mr Goyal said, 'I congratulate the countrymen on the occasion of International Yoga Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of adopting June 21 as Yoga Day got its support from the United Nations and this day is recognised as International Yoga Day across the world. He has asserted that we have to cure illness as well as we need to focus on wellness of countrymen. Emphasis is on preventive healthcare. By practising Yoga, one can remain healthy and fit without incurring any cost. I think Yoga is beneficial for the society at large.'
Minister of State of Railways Suresh C Angadi participated in the Yoga session on the occasion of the International Yoga Day at Paschim Vihar and said, 'Yoga provides a healthy body, stable mind, spirit of oneness. On this day I urge everyone to make yoga an integral part of your lives.'
Main programme was organized at Railway Officers Club, State Entry Road, in which Members of Railway Board T P Singh, General Manager, Northern Railway S C Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi Division, other Senior Railway Officials of Railway Board and Northern Railway, Railway personnel and their family members participated.
A large number of employees of Northern Railway are very keen practitioners of Yoga themselves and often voluntarily coach the needy persons in various practices of Yoga completely free of cost. (UNI)
