Bishkek, Jun 14 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that a suitable atmosphere, strong business to business ties and effective connectivity are vital essentials to promote trade and economic relations between India and Kyrgyzstan and also with other central Asian countries.
"It is true the trade and economic ties we are having as of now is much below potentials. Therefore the step taken to bring industry captains of two countries together," Prime Minister said here addressing India-Kyrgyzstan Business Council meet here.
"I consider three major aspects need to be addressed to promote trade and commerce between two countries, they are atmosphere, strong business to business ties and effective connectivity," he said in presence of Kyrgyz President Jeenbekov Sooronbay.
In this respect we have already given final shape to an agreement on avoiding of double taxation, Prime Minister said his government is also working hard to ensure a preferential trade agreement with the Eurasian Union."
Last week at a media briefing in Delhi, Secretary West in the Ministry of External Affairs Gitesh Sarma has said: "Bilateral trade with Kyrgyzstan was about $ 60 million in 2017-18. So that is the scale of the economic engagement. We have almost eight thousand Indian students in Kyrgyz Republic, it is something which often doesn’t attract enough attention but there is a kind of educational angle also to our bilateral relation with the Kyrgyz Republic".
