New Delhi, June 14: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has directed the Indian Embassy in Iraq to ensure 'quick return' of seven Punjabi youths who were "duped" by a travel agent and are stranded in the Ibril city.

This was stated by Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
"Met the External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar along with family members of seven Punjabi youths stranded in Irbil city for past seven months after being duped by a travel agent," Badal tweeted.

She further wrote: "I express my gratitude to Jaishankar ji for directing Indian Embassy in Iraq to ensure their quick return". The youths who have been stranded in Iraq's Erbil city are from Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts in Punjab.

In another missive Union Minister Badal wrote: "As the Indian Consulate would complete the legal formalities needed to ensure the return of these youths to their homeland, I am pleased to inform that the Akali Dal would bear their travel expenses". (UNI)
