New Delhi, June 12: Nripendra Misra and P K Mishra were on Tuesday re-appointed as Principal Secretary and Additional Principal Secretary, respectively, to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Cabinet minister rank.
'The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr Nripendra Misra, IAS (Retired) as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from May 31, 2019,'' the release from the Ministry said.
In another statement, the Ministry said, ''The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dr P K Mishra, IAS (Retired) as Additional Principal Secretary to Prime Minister with effect from May 31, 2019.''
The appointment committee assigned the rank of Cabinet Minister to both former bureaucrats. A 1967-batch Uttar Pradesh cadre Retd Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Nripendra Misra served as Principal Secretary to the PM in the previous NDA government as well. He has also served as the chairperson of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Telecom Secretary of India and Fertilizers Secretary of India.
Dr P K Mishra, a 1972-batch Retd IAS officer of Gujarat Cadre, had also served as the Additional Principal Secretary to the PM in the previous government. The appointment of both bureaucrats is co-terminus with the term of PM.
