New Delhi, June 11: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is reported to have discussed issues pertaining to the state, including the demand for conferring special category status to Odisha, sources here said.
A picture of the two leaders meeting here was tweeted by the Prime Minister's Office. This is the first meeting between the two came after Patnaik was sworn in as Chief Minister for a record fifth time and Modi returned to office with a thumping majority.
The CM is scheduled to meet President Ram Nath Kovind and other Union Ministers during his official visit to the National Capital. Patnaik has been keen that special category state status be granted to Odisha and aids stepped up after several coastal towns were lashed by Cyclone Fani recently, which wrought great damage to its infrastructure.
