New Delhi, Jun 7: Asserting that Rahul Gandhi will lead the Congress party and will come with a solution to overcome the setback under his leadership, the Congress party on Friday said that this is the time for constructive introspection.
Talking to media persons, party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that it is a transitional period for the party and all are aware of the setback and it cannot be discounted.
"This is a time for constructive introspection, and coming out with a solution, the party is united in that approach, they are doing it, yes this is little slow, but as i said, in such times, I assure you that with various right panaceas we are discussing, we are going to come out in the right path, and you will see that 100 percent with Rahul Gandhi, he is our leader, he is the congress president", Mr Singhvi said.
After the Congress had a humiliating defeat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls with mere 52 seats against BJP's massive 303, Mr Gandhi had offered his resignation from the post of party president.
The Congress Working Committee (CWC), however, rejected his offer and asked him to continue and give him mandate to restructure the party to face the challenges.
According to reports, Mr Gandhi is reluctant to continue in the top post and had given time to party to find a 'suitable person' from outside 'family' for the post.
Congress leaders have, however, denied it giving the impression that Mr Gandhi will change his mind and continue as party president. (UNI)
