New Delhi, Jun 6 : The government on Thursday night revised its list of cabinet committees announced earlier in the day, including names of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs and the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
A revised list of the committees, released by the government on Thursday night, said that Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs comprised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ramvilas Paswan, Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Minister of Rural Development: and Minister of Panchayati Raj Narendra Singh Tomar, Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot, Information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi.
The list said that the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs comprised the Prime Minister, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Minister of Road Transport and Highways; Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ramvilas Paswan, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Communications and Minister of Electronics and Information Technology; and Minister of Law and Justice Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Health minister Harsh Vardhan, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Prahlad Joshi and Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Arvind Ganpat Sawant.The list released earlier on Thursday did not include name if Mr Rajnath Singh in these two committees.
Confronted with the problems of economic slowdown and unemployment, the NDA government has reconstituted the cabinet committees and set up Cabinet Committees to look into the issues of unemployment, investment and growth.
Ahead of the first Budget of the Modi government in its second term, the government has constituted Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Security, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.
The eight committees include the Cabinet committees on economic affairs and on employment and skill development that will directly deal with unemployment and slipping GDP figures. This is the first time that such panels have been setup.Both of these panels will be headed by PM Modi himself. (UNI)
