New Delhi, Jun 3 : A week after a poor show in Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, BSP chief Mayawati is mulling the idea of going alone in the coming by-elections in 11 assembly seats in the state, sources said.

According to sources, Ms Mayawati told party workers at the review meeting, on Monday, in the national capital, that SP and RLD could not transfer their votes to the BSP in the Lok Sabha elections. She also accused Shivpal Yadav for hurling the prospects of the grand alliance in at least three constituencies, as he managed to transfer Yadav votes, a core vote bank of SP, to the BJP, sources said.

According to BSP leaders, the party had deliberation on the issues, including EVMs.
Mayawati-led BSP, Akhilesh Yadav's SP and Ajith Singh-led RLD had contested as Mahagathbandhan, with a hope to stop BJP juggernaut in the state.BSP, however, won 10 seats out of 37 it contested, SP five and RLD could not win a single seat in UP. Ms Mayawati has on Sunday sacked party in-charges in six states and party presidents in two states.

The by-elections were necessitated after BJP, SP, BSP and Apna Dal fielded MLAs in the Lok Sabha polls and 11 have been elected.  (UNI)
