Severe heat wave in West Rajasthan and UP

Pune, Jun 2: Conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into extreme southern parts of Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maldive-Comorin Area, southwest, southeast and east central Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours.

Severe heat wave conditions were observed in some parts over west Rajasthan and at isolated pockets over east Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh.
Heat wave conditions were observed in many parts over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and in some parts over east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets over west Rajasthan, south Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and south interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of Rajasthan and were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and in remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha and were above normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat Region, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal and north interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of Assam and Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka.
Day temperatures were below normal in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Telangana and in remaining parts of Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
They were normal over the rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 50.8°C at Churu (west Rajasthan).

Heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, south interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Heat wave conditions in some parts over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Punjab and in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Saurashtra and Kutch, Marathwada and Vidarbha. Thunderstorm accompanied with squall and lightning (50-60 kmph) at isolated places very likely over Uttarakhand.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied with gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and South Interior Karnataka; with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
Strong wind, speed reaching 35-45 kmph, very likely to prevail over southwest Bay of Bengal and Gulf of Mannar. Fishermen are advised not to venture into this area during next 24 hours.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at a few places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Lakshadweep and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Kerala.
Mainly dry weather has prevailed in east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and coastal and north interior Karnataka. (UNI)
