New Delhi, May 29 : Continuing the 'poaching' in the Trinamool Congress camp, one more legislator in West Bengal Manirul Islam joined the BJP here on Wednesday. Announcing Mr Islam's joining the saffron party, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya said three other leaders G Hazra, Mohd Asif Iqbal and Nimai Das also will be now be part of the saffron party Mr Islam is sitting MLA from Labpur in Birbhum district.
Answering questions at party headquarters here, Mr Vijayvargiya criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her U-turn and deciding not to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
'She must have been looking for excuses for not attending the oath-taking ceremony,' he said.Mr Vijayvargiya on Tuesday said,'More Trinamool Congress leaders and MLAs are going to join BJP in seven phases from next month as were the general elections.'
Echoing similar sentiment, senior BJP leader Mukul Roy said more than 100 Trinamool lawmakers are in touch with the BJP.
BJP leaders have indicated that while they want to strive hard to capture power in West Bengal, they would not like Mamata Banerjee acquire some kind of martyrdom by toppling her government.On Tuesday, Mukul Roy's legislator son Subhrangshu Roy, two of his colleagues Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Debendra Nath Roy also joined the saffron party.The Hemtabad MLA from Uttar Dinajpur district Debendra Nath Roy is from CPI-M.
