Shimla, May 15: Former Union Minister and veteran Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has expressed confidence that the era of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru will come back, while claiming that after nine days, the results will show who cares for the nation.
Aiyar, during his stay here on Tuesday, said he was being victimised for telling truth.
“I have been a victim of my statements, since I have been telling the truth,” he told mediapersons.
Cautious not to mince earlier pungent words or name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Aiyar said he was victimised by those, who were exposed, after his statements.
Admiring former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Aiyar stated that in the era, people like him admired young leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He went on to say that he does not think the present PM or the government of India would have such opinion about any elected leader.
On Congress spokesperson's defence on his remarks, Aiyar said a big section of media is suppressed so he is always cautious and has a lot to speak because he has already been victim of this. He did not want to waste his time giving any such statement, which would create any problem.
“I have written a complete article and your selecting a particular line of that I am not ready to go into this game and you go through the complete article I have given to Rising Kashmir earlier and copy has been used by the print,” the leader, who is on virtual asylum after Congress narrow defeat in Gujarat, said.
He said that anything he says is always being misused as there are people who hate him because he tells the truth and it was only by his truth that he was hated.
“I will keep on telling the truth and I am expecting on 23rd of May of this kind (hatred), they would be here and of this kind of politics in India will have and Jawaharlal Nehru's Era will be come back,” he hoped.
Aiyar was virtually banished by the party after the 2017 Gujarat Assembly polls for using unparliamentary language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (UNI)
