New Delhi, May 13: On Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) Founder Kamal Haasan for his 'controversial' remarks against Hindus, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that the actor-politician does not understand the difference between an assassin and a terrorist.
'Kamal Haasan does not understand the difference between an assassin and a terrorist.
“He is in a hurry...following the same line as the Congress for vote purposes. Not a minute taken to demean Hindus,” Sitharaman said at a press conference here. Kamal Haasan was following the appeasement policy of degrading Hindus, same as the Congress, she said.
During campaigning for his party candidate at Aravakurichi where Assembly bypoll would be held on May 19 along with three other seats, Kamal had stated that the first terrorist of Independent India was a Hindu in the form on Nathuram Godse, who had shot dead Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. They are doing temple hopping, and wearing 'janeus' during elections, Congress party trying to put down the Hindus, 'classic example of that', she said.
'We are very sure of our victory and have gone with alliance before the poll. We are winning with majority and NDA government will be formed,' she said. The Opposition does not have a positive agenda, she said. BJP Tamil Nadu unit Tamilisai Soundararajan also flayed Haasan for his controversial remarks. In a tweet, she said actor Kamal Haasan recalling Gandhi’s assassination now and calling it Hindu terrorism was condemnable.
The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India demanding stringent action against Kamal Haasan for his 'Hindu terror' remark. (UNI)
