New Delhi, May 10 : In an unsparing attack on the principal Opposition party, BJP on Friday said the "Hua to hua" comment of Rahul Gandhi's guru Sam Pitroda on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots showed the "character and mentality" of the Congress and it should expel him from the party immediately.

'The country's Sikhs will never accept your comments,' said BJP MLA RP Singh and party spokesperson Sambit Patra while addressing a press conference here.

Mr Pitroda, who is in charge of the Congress's overseas units, had brushed off the BJP's suggestion that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots took place on the orders of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. "I don't think so, this is also another lie. What about 1984 now? What have you done in the last five years, talk about that. What happened in 1984, happened. What have you done? (Ab kya hai '84 ka? Aapne kya kiya 5 saal mein, uski baat kariye. '84 mein hua to hua. Aapne kya kiya?),' he has said on Thursday.

'Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should ask Sikhs for forgiveness with folded hands and immediately expel Sam Pitroda from the party,' Dr Patra said, adding that 'the comment was not just a sentence. This is shamelessness and insensitive and inhuman.'

The BJP also asked why did not former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh speak on the matter.'Why did Dr Manmohan Singh not apologise for this insensitive remark,' Dr Patra said.As many as 34 years have passed, justice was denied to people. In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted SIT and the guilty were punished, he said.

'It was not just riots but genocide, a planned conspiracy' Dr Patra said categorically, adding that 'Humanity won't forgive the Congress'.'This mentality that 'Hua Toh Hua', ask people who lost their family members and loves ones,' Mr Singh said.Rajiv Gandhi was leading the killings of Sikhs in 1984, Mr Singh alleged. Congress enacted this genocide for its own selfish reasons, he said.

Thousands of Sikhs were killed openly on the roads of Delhi and when asked for reaction, Mr Pitroda says 1984 'hua toh hua', Dr Patra said, adding that this reaction is totally shocking.

Mr Singh said the leaders who got killed the maximum number of Sikhs were rewarded with maximum number of ministries. In the press conference, a 1984 riots survivor narrated how her father was singled out and killed before her eyes. (UNI)
