Ghatal, May 7 : BJP president Amit Shah today promised a terror-free West Bengal once it was voted to power and lambasted Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee for her reported opposition to the chanting of "Jai Shri Ram".
“Will Lord Ram's name be taken in Pakistan if not in India,” Shah asked the West Bengal Chief Minister while electioneering here for BJP candidate and former IPS officer Bharati Ghosh.
Shah alleged that Mamata was not allowing people to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' in Bangla and asked if the Lord's name cannot be taken in India, will it be uttered in Pakistan.
"Lord Ram is a part of the culture of India... Can anybody stop people from taking his name? I want to ask Mamata didi, if Shri Ram's name is not taken in India, will it be chanted in Pakistan," Shah said.
Mamta on Saturday reportedly got angry at a group of purported BJP supporters shouting "Jai Shri Ram" while her convoy was passing through in West Midnapore district's Chandrakona. She asked for stopping the car, got out and said: "Who are shouting and why are you fleeing?"
The incident took place at Ballavpur village near Chandrakona town.
Later, three people were arrested in this context.
"Come here. Why are you guys running away? Come here," said an angry Mamta, enraged at the locals' behaviour.
Shah, while referring to the incident, said the BJP would finish the terror from top to toe - at the syndicated alleged organised crime in Bengal.

He said BJP candidate Ghosh, the former IPS officer tortured by the Mamata government for not towing her line, would win by a big margin as the BJP would win 23 of the total 42 seats in Bengal.

The BJP chief said the election in West Bengal was meant for restoring democracy where the BJP will win "more than 23 seats" .
He said the TMC government run by syndicated groups have been looting funds sent from the NDA government at the Centre..
"The Narendra Modi government has given Rs 4,24,800 crore to West Bengal in its five-year tenure, but it has not reached the people, and, instead, gone to the syndicates," Shah reiterated.
He said the UPA-II Government under Manmohan Singh had granted only around Rs 1,32,000 crore to the State.
The BJP chief reiterated his party's resolve to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Bengal to flush out illegal migrants from Bangladesh.
