New Delhi, May 2: Several trains have been cancelled due to cyclone Fani which is likely to move northeastwards and cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during May 3 afternoon with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph.
Trains, which were supposed to start journey on May 2, and have been cancelled include 22812 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express, 22824 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express. 12816 Anand Vihar Terminal-Puri Nandan Kanan Express, a Northern Railways release here said.
22823 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, 12875 Puri-New Delhi Neelanchal Express. 18477 Puri-Haridwar Utkal Express, 12801 Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express have also been cancelled which were suppose to start their journey from May 3.
The IMD bulletin said the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm “FANI” over West-central Bay of Bengal moved north-eastwards with a speed of about 07 kmph in last six hours and lay centred at 0230 hrs, on May 2, 2019 over West-central Bay of Bengal near latitude 15.5°N and longitude 84.2°E, about 510 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha), 260 km south-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and 700 km south-southwest of Digha (West Bengal).
It is very likely to move northeastwards and cross Odisha Coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, around Puri during May 3 afternoon with maximum sustained wind speed of 170-180 kmph gusting to 200 kmph. The cyclone is being tracked by Doppler Weather Radars Chennai, Vishakhapatnam & Machilipatnam.
The bulletin said light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Visakhapatnam and Vizainagaram Districts and isolated heavy to extremely heavy falls over Srikakulam districts on May 2 and with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on May 3. UNI
