New Delhi, May 1 : In an unprecedented development in the sexual harassment allegations levelled against the Chief Justice of India, Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday appeared before the in-house panel and was examined by it, a Supreme Court source said. Justice Gogoi defended himself before the panel saying that the charges levelled by her former staff was wrong and baseless, the source said.
According to the source, the in-house panel had requested the Chief Justice of India to appear before it, after a day the victim refused to appear before the committee saying that she won't get justice from the panel.
Yesterday, in a release, she had said that she was not allowed to have the presence of her lawyer/support person despite her impaired hearing, nervousness and fear to appear before the in-house committee. She also stated that there is no video or audio recording of the committee proceedings. She also claimed that she won't get Justice from this committee and thereby no longer wanted to participate in the proceedings of the three-judge committee. (UNI)
