New Delhi, Apr 26: A joint exercise was conducted on Friday by Safety Department of Northern Railway, Delhi Division with eighth battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and civil authorities.
The exercise was carried out to learn and share better techniques, co-ordination and handling of cutting, shearing tools/machines with each other in case of train accidents.
Staff of various railway departments also participated in the joint exercise.
A coach was also tilted and capsised at sick line, Ghaziabad, to create an original accident scene. The coach was cut from the roof and injured passengers were evacuated and rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Senior railway officials along with NDRF and civic authorities monitored the relief activities at the site.
Delhi DRM SC Jain said such type of joint exercises were very essential and useful for the railway staff and civil administration to provide immediate aid to the victims in case of train accidents. (UNI)
