Pakistan and India have held a technical meeting to discuss the modalities for the corridor linking Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur to the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district in Punjab.
Technical experts and foreign office officials of both sides attended the talks held at Zero Point (Kartarpur). They also reportedly discussed installation of a border fence and road design.
In a major initiative last November, the two had agreed to set up the corridor to link the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak, to Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur. Kartarpur Sahib is located in Narowal district across the Ravi, 4 km from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine.
India had earlier postponed the meeting at the Wagah border scheduled for April 2. On March 19 a meeting of technical experts on the Kartarpur corridor was held during which its alignment, coordinates and other engineering aspects of the proposed crossing points were discussed.
