Ceasefire with North East rebel groups extended for year

New Delhi, Apr 15 : The Centre on Monday extended the operational ceasefire for a year with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Neopao Konyak and Kitovi group) (NSCN/NK) and National Socialist Council of Nagaland(Reformation) (NSCN/R), an official release of the Home Ministry said here.

“It was decided to extend the Suspension of Operation with NSCN(NK) and NSCN(R) for a further period of one year with effect from April 28, 2019 till April 27, 2020”, Home Ministry officials said.
The ceasefire agreement was signed on April 15 by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Satendra Garg and representatives of NSCN(NK) and NSCN(R) representatives Jack Jimomi, Dr Amento Chishi and Toshi Longkumer.
The Central Government has also re-entered into a fresh ‘Ceasefire Agreement’ with the Government with effect from April 15, for a period of one year with National Socialist Council of Nagaland,(K-Khango) group.
Representative of NSCN(K-Khango) Mr Newell Naga and Mr Michael Yeptho signed the ceasefire agreement.
