NIA arrests 5th accused in Lethpora CRPF group centre attack

New Delhi, Apr 14: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested accused Irshad Ahmad Reshi in Lethpora CRPF group centre terror attack case following the disclosure made by accused Nisar Ahmed Tantray and Syed Hilal Andrabi.

Irshad Ahmed Reshi will be produced before the Jammu Special NIA court on April 15 with a request for grant of police custody for further investigation. Arrested accused Irshad Ahmad Reshi is an active Over Ground Worker (OGW) of proscribed terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). He was a close associate of slain terrorist and JeM Commander Noor Mohammad Tantrayalias Noor Trali.

The attack on CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora was executed under a conspiracy to avenge the death of Noor Trali, who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Dec 2017. According to NIA, Accused Reshi has been found to be a key conspirator who provided logistic support in form of sheltering and transport for the terrorists and conducting reconnaissance of the CRPF Group centre, Lethpora before the terrorist attack.

“Four accused namely Fayaz Ahmad Magrey, a resident of Lethpora, Manzoor Ahmed Bhat of Pampore, Nisar Ahmed Tantray of Tral in Awantipora and Syed Hilal Andrabi of Pulwama were arrested earlier in the case,” the central terror probe agency said.
The terror attack on CRPF Group Centre, Lethpora was carried out in the intervening night of December 30-3, 2017 by three terrorists belonging to Jaish terrorists Fardeen Ahmad Khandey, Manzoor Baba and a Pakistani terrorist namely Abdul Shakoor resident of Rawalakot area of POK who were killed in the encounter. In this attack, 5 CRPF personnel were killed and three were grievously injured. (UNI)
