Mangaluru, Apr 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, coming down heavily against opposition parties that took exception to his economic policies taken post 2014, said that the banking sector under duress due to bad economic policies and the struggling economy was put back on the tracks by the BJP-led NDA government.
Speaking at 'Vijaya Sankalpa Yatra' election rally in BJP stronghold Dakshina Kannada, Modi said the banks including the PSU banks that flourished from this district suffered during the UPA regime.
‘’This happened during 2007-14 as the Banking sector was left in a bad state due to ‘commission’ regime and the NDA government was left to fight against the downturn. We have corrected it and if the Congress party had something to say, it has to explain why the Indian Economy was on a ‘ventilator’ before 2014,’’ Modi said.
He said BJP was ahead of its opponents despite some opposition parties coming together and others playing different tunes in the country, but his government should be given the due to bring up the Indian economy, the steps taken by it was appreciated world over.
‘’The Congress culture weakened the economy and post 2014 the country is witnessing good progress. The banking industry, including Mangaluru based major banks is witnessing progress. But this was a reverse that what we saw prior to 2014,’’ he said.
Modi said the commission regime had ended when he became the Prime Minister and the economy was on the right track.
Speaking at a well attended meeting at Nehru Maidan he said the union government had given due to all sections of the people in the country and farmers were given special status with schemes and special incentives under the NDA government.
Modi said the NDA government, if re-elected will set up a separate ministry for Fishing community at the Centre so that the fishermen can get benefits from Kissan Credit Card. They can get funding for the fishing device from government under ‘Matsya Sampadaya Yojana’ (UNI)
