New Delhi, Apr 11: The Election commission of India has issued directions to stop airing of political content on 'NAMO TV'.
A direction in this regard was given to the Chief election officer of Delhi by the commission on Thursday.
In its letter, the EC said that during the election period and during the operation of the Model code of conduct, no political content can be displayed on electronic media without permission of the election media monitoring committee. ''It has been brought to the notice of the commission that NAMO TV /content TV is a platform service offered by the DTH operators offered to the BJP on a paid basis.
Hence the content aired on it comes under the definition of the Model code of conduct and therefore it cannot be allowed to be aired. You are directed to ensure implementation of the commission’s instructions and send a compliance report immediately, ''the EC said in its letter.
