Maoists urge plantation workers to boycott Lok Sabha election on Apr 23

Agency News

Wayanad April 12 : Communist Party of India (CPI) Maoists for the second time on Friday urged the plantation workers in this district to boycott the Lok Sabha Election on April 23.

The Maoists in a release on April 7 (that reached the Wayanad press club in Kalpetta) had urged the people to boycott the upcoming LS election. The release was issued by Ajitha of the Nadukani area Committee of the Western Ghat regional unit of the CPI- Maoists.

Following this and in the light of AICC President Rahul Gandhi visited to file his nomination papers recently, the Thunderbolt, the special Police force for combating insurgents, had intensified its search and combing operations in the areas bordering forests in the district.

The release today too was issued by the same unit of the Maoists but the call for boycott of poll was more precisely aimed at the plantation workers. (UNI)
