VVIP choppers scandal: ED granted 2-days more custody of ‘middleman’ Sushen Mohan Gupta

Agency News

New Delhi, Apr 6 : Special Judge Arvind Kumar on Saturday granted further two days Enforcement Directorate custody for alleged defence agent Sushen Mohan Gupta, arrested by the investigating agency in the Rs 3,600 crore VVIP choppers scandal case.
ED submitted that the role of Mr Gupta came to light in the case on the basis of the disclosures made by co-accused Rajiv Saxena, who had turned approver.

Directorate of Enforcement suspected that Mr Gupta had some payment details in the purchase of AgustaWestland VVIP choppers and the link was to be unravelled.
Mr Gupta was arrested by the investigating agency under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and after three days custody again produced in the Patiala House Court before the Special Judge.

Seeking bail, counsel for Mr Gupta opposed further ED custody and contended that there were no fresh grounds as his client had already been questioned in the case.
Further hearing was set for April 9, Tuesday. (UNI)
