New Delhi, Apr 5 : Indian Air Force (IAF) on Friday confirmed that it had shot down Pakistan Air Force’s fighter jet F-16 on February 27. Clearing all doubts, the IAF sources said, "Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman shot down Pakistan Air Force F-16 aircraft 7-8 km inside Pakistan Occupied Area in Sabzkot area there." Earlier, the US report had questioned IAF version of Pakistan F-16 shooting down by IAF MIG Bison Aircraft.
"The IAF have confirmed sitting ejections at 2 different places on Feb 27. The 2 sittings were at places separated by atleast 8-10kms. One was an IAF's MiG21 Bison and the other a PAF jet. Electronic signatures gathered by IAF indicate that jet was a F-16," IAF Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations and Space) Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor said.
The dogfight between IAF and Pakistan Air Force took place after India demolished terror camp in Balakot air strike in Pakistan on March 26. UNI
