New Delhi, Apr 4 : President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday forwarded to the Central Government an Election Commission report on alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct by Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh.
The report was sent to the President’s office by the Election Commission of India.
While addressing BJP workers in a meeting in Aligarh on April 2, Mr Singh is reported to have said that Mr Modi should become Prime Minister again.
Since the Model Code of Conduct is in place and Mr Singh holds a Constitutional position, the EC referred the matter to the President.
The Commission had earlier sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer in the matter.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had objected to remarks as the country is going to the polls and Model Code of Conduct is in place. (UNI)
