DMK leader Durai Murugan’s aide was summoned by Income Tax ( IT )Department, according to India Today TV report on Tuesday.
DMK Treasurer Durai Murugan’s close aide and a cement godown owner was summoned by IT Department. In a raid on 29-30 March, Tamil Nadu Income Tax officials have seized a huge cache of money from a cement godown in Vellore. Later, IT department said in a statement that they have seized Rs.10 crore rupees.
DMK leaders said that the move by IT department is part of a political vendetta and will affect the political fortune of Kathiravan , the son of Durai Murugan, who contest from Vellore parliamentary constituency this time. DMK treasurer Durai Murugan and his son Kathir Anand have already approached the Madras High court stating that the ongoing raids at their residences and educational institution since Sunday night, by the Tamil Nadu income tax officials is political vendetta.
Following Durai Murugan moving the Madras High Court against the ongoing IT raids, D Jayakumar - the Tamil Nadu Minister on I-T raids said to reporters: " Prior to these raids on former Durai Murugan, I had been informed about the raid by IT officials. In a press conference two days ago, I had already said that the DMK calls this distribution of money to voters -a blue sky operations. Today it has come true. The DMK has done this blue sky operations in 20 constituencies also. Specifically, they have distributed 100 crores in three areas of Chennai city alone."
Questioning the DMK, he added, "Will M.K.Stalin say that the money found is all tissue papers?"
