Huzurabad (Nalgonda district), Apr 1: Continuing his tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and TRS Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has charged that the two leaders were fooling the people by their illusory talk.
Addressing a public meeting here, the third during his whistle stop tour to the state on Monday, he said that the promises made by both Mr Modi and Mr Rao remained mere promises. Mr.Modi promised of "ache din (good days) for the majority of the countrymen but the people were yet see the ache din sans a select few rich businessmen friends of the Prime Minister.
He said five years ago Mr Rao had promised to provide safe drinking water to the people of Nalgonda district where the water is affected with fluoride but the problem still persisted in the district. Many promises made by the Mr Modi and the TRS like helping jobless youth by creating employment opportunities. depositing Rs.five lakh each in the bank account of poor families remained unfulfilled.
While, the chowkidar Modi helped his rich business friends to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, in Telangana only one family of Mr Rao reaped the fruits of the new state achieved after a long struggle and many sacrifices, Mr.Gandhi charged. He said a "vote to TRS is a vote to Modi", adding that the Congress alone can defeat the BJP.
Reiterating his promises like depositing Rs.72,000 annually in the bank accounts of the poorest of poor families, providing assistance to the small traders to open new shops and 33 per cent reservation for women in elected bodies, he said that by 2020 all the vacant posts in the government would be filled up. TPCC President Uttam Kumar Reddy who is seeking election from the Huzurabad constituency to enter the Lok Sabha exuded confidence that Mr Gandhi would be the Prime Minister after the upcoming election.
