In a major relief for the makers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's biopic, the Delhi High Court on Monday rejected a PIL to stay the 'PM Narendra Modi' release.
The verdict was announced on Monday in the presence of the Chief Justice, Anup Jairam Bhambhani.
The PIL filed by advocate Sujeet Kumar Singh was seeking a stay on the film 'PM Narendra Modi' considering the release date which comes at a time when the country is heading for general elections and the model code of conduct is in force. PIL also argued that the release of the film will help in boosting the image of PM Modi, thereby, influence the voters at a time when the 17th General Elections are less than two weeks away.
Similar PILs have been filed in the Allahabad High Court and the Bombay High Court as well.
Directed by Omung Kumar, the biopic 'PM Narendra Modi' starrer Vivek Oberoi in the lead has been making rounds all over social media since the trailer was released. On Friday, March 29, the makers also released the first song 'Namo Namo' of the film.
The film is set to release on April 5, six days before the Lok Sabha polls kick off.
