YSRCP seeks removal of DGP as well

Hyderabad, Mar 27 : Welcoming the Election Commission's decision to remove three top police officials from duty, the YSR Congress on Wednesday demanded removal of DGP R P Thakur also, as he has been functioning like a TDP cadre.

Speaking to reporters here, party General Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the Additional DGP (Intelligence) has been functioning as a TDP cadre and was instrumental in engineering defections, besides numerous other acts, which do not come under the purview of his line of official duty.

''While appreciating the step to restraining three police officers from carrying out duty in Andhra Pradesh, we also demand that DGP R P Thakur should also be removed as he was also deeply involved in toeing the official line more than what the job requirement demands.

''The Intelligence Wing has been functioning from multiple and private locations, tapping phones and gathering information for the ruling party. ''We have moved the court as well and are expecting a positive response. Even my phone along with many leaders of our party, is being tapped since long and we have unflinching evidence for it, which will be shown at an appropriate time,'' he said. The ruling party has been raising a hue and cry about the issue, which shows how desperate they are, he added. (UNI)
