New Delhi, Mar 28 : Actor Vivek Oberoi and producer Sandip Singh on Thursday met the Election Commission in response to a notice to the producers of 'PM Narendra Modi', the biopic on the life of Prime Minister Narendra modi, after objections raised to its release during the election period by opposition parties, including Congress.
According to sources, the duo had discussions with the poll officials on the release date of the film, which is set to release on April 5, merely a week before the first phase of Lok Sabha polls which will be held on April 11.
Opposition parties alleged that the release of the movie during election time is the violation of Model Code of Conduct.
Earlier, Delhi Delhi Chief Electoral Office had sent a notice to the producers of the movie, seeking their reply on the violation of the Model Code of Conduct by publishing advertisements for the movie without prior permission.
Apart from Congress, Left parties, NCP and DMK also demanded the poll body to defer the release date of the movie, citing violation of Model Code of Conduct. The movie was earlier scheduled to release on April 12.
