New Delhi, Mar 28 : Election Commission on Thursday said that it is examining whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi violated Model Code of Conduct with his ‘Mission Shakti’ address to the nation and a decision on the matetr would be taken on Friday.
Talking to mediapersons, EC officials said that the committee of officers appointed by the commission to probe the matter had two meetings on the issue, one yesterday night and another today.
“We had collected various facts related to it and we are examining that whether there is a violation of Model Code of Conduct”, the officials said.
The poll body also said that the Prime Minster did not seek permission before he addressed to the nation.
“The speech is being analysed now”, they said.
Opposition parties, including Left and the Trinamool Congress. alleged that Mr Modi violated Model Code of Conduct by addressing the nation during the election time.
Responding to a question on the biopic of Prime Minister, “PM Narendra Modi”, the poll body said that it received a complaint from a Congress delegation and had issued notice to producers of the film.
“We received replies from concerned parties and we are studying it”, the poll body said.
