As expected, BJP denied ticket to the rebel-BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha to contest in the Lok Sabha election this time.
The BJP has instead fielded Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad from Shatrughan Sinha's Patna Sahib seat in Bihar. The NDA on Saturday announced the candidate list for all the 40 seats in Bihar for 2019 Lok Sabha election. The BJP and the Janata Dal (United) will contest on 17 seats each and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) on six seats in Bihar.
During the last couple of years, Shatrughan Sinha has heavily criticized both UPA Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In January this year he attended Mamata Banerjee's rally against the BJP in Kolkata along with other Opposition leaders.
With this obvious signal from BJP, Shatrughan Sinha will imminently end his association with the BJP with which he has been associated with nearly two decades now. Some rumours said that Congress may offer Patna Sahib seat to Shatrughan Sinha. Even though, it will be a tough battle for Shatrughan Sinha as Patna Sahib is a traditional BJP bastion.
BJP has also decided to not give Bhagalpur seat to Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. Giriraj Singh will contest the Lok Sabha poll from the Bhagalpur constituency.
