Pakistan should handover Dawood and Hizbul chief Sayeed Salauddin: Govt

New Delhi, Mar 16 : Amid tensions between two countries and strong differences persisting on matters concerning JeM chief Masood Azhar, a government source on Saturday said that

to prove its sincerity for a healthy relationship with India, Pakistan should handover 'wanted Indians' staying in that country. One of the expectations, India will have from Pakistan as of now , post-Pulwama and related developments, would be to handover the likes of Dawood Ibrahim and Syed Salauddin.

According to the sources here said, New Delhi is well aware that there are Indians who are 'wanted' for terrorism and major crimes and are residing in Pakistan.

If Pakistan really wants to send a 'message' that they are serious, they can easily and at the earliest handover these Indians citizens, the sources further said.

These Indians are wanted in India and also a few in the list of proscribed terrorists. While Dawood is wanted in connection with 1993 serial Mumbai bomb blasts, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin alias Mohammad Yousuf Shah, who has been declared a 'Specially Designated Global Terrorist' by the US, is also wanted in more than 50 terror cases in India, including Jammu and Kashmir for offences like abduction, attacks on security forces and hawala funding.

The official source stated that, on JeM chief Masood Azhar, Pakistan is pursuing a flawed foreign policy and incidentally that 'suits India'.

Many analysts in India see Pakistan is only trying to defend the indefensible and such a strategy by Islamabad would hardly have any global impact.UNI
