Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday promised the people that if the Congress-led alliance was voted to power, it would ensure minimum income guarantee for all citizens, create more jobs, create a separate ministry to address the problems of fishermen and bring in law to provide for 33 per cent reservation not only in Parliament and Assemblies but also in Central Government jobs.
Addressing an election meeting in Nagercoil in southern Tamil Nadu, which was attended by DMK leader M K Stalin and other allies like Vaiko of MDMK, Rahul Gandhi said the first task of his government would be to make create jobs lost because of the demonetisation especially in the informal sector.
His government would also bring a true GST which would usher in one tax, one simple tax for the entire nation unlike the skewed tax structure ushered in by the Modi Government.
A third priority would be to create a special ministry for fishermen, who like farmers, played an important role in India’s economy.
Rahul Gandhi said the only way to create more jobs was to boost the manufacturing sector through liberal bank loans to entrepreneurs to take on competition from China, unlike Modi’s “Make in India” campaign where bank loans were given to crony capitalists like Anil Ambani and Nirav and Choksy Modis.
He said Tamil Nadu, known for its manufacturing skills, could become the hub of the manufacturing sectors.
On the minimum income guarantee for all , he said the Government would fix the income and make direct transfer funds to the bank accounts of those below that level.
On the long-pending 33 per cent reservation for women, he said his government would not only enact the law for representation in Parliament and State Assemblies, but also set apart one third of jobs in Central government for women.
Speaking on the occasion, Stalin referred to the Rafale expose made by The Hindu Ram and the Government charge documents had been stolen and said “ Hindu and Ram” would not get votes for Modi.
