Pak again fires unprovoked on LoC in Poonch, India retaliates

Jammu, Mar 9: Pakistan on Saturday yet again violated the ceasefire and fired unprovoked in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

' Pakistan continues with nefarious designs and at about 1800 hours again and initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing of Small Arms along LoC in Sunderbani area of Rajouri,' Defence Spokesperson here said.

He said that Indian Army effectively retaliated to the firing while no injury or damage was reported in exchange of fire.

On March 8, Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Poonch district and on March 5 in Sunderbani, Nowshera area of Rajouri.

Last week, Pakistan violated ceasefire by firing along LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

A nine-month-old child among three of a family were killed while two others were injured when Pakistan shelled forward posts and villages in Poonch district.

Earlier a woman was killed while three others including an Army jawan were injured in cross border firing as Pakistan shelled forward Border Outposts in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

People living close to the border have been asked to stay indoors.

In 2018, highest number of 2,936 ceasefire violations was witnessed along the Indo-Pak border triggered by the Pakistan. (UNI)
