President, VP, Union Ministers extend Mahashivratri greetings

New Delhi, Mar 4: President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu and several Union Ministers on Monday extended Mahashivratri greetings to the people.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the President said,'Greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens on Mahashivratri. May the blessings of Lord Shiva bring peace, happiness and prosperity to everyone's lives'.

The Vice President said, 'I extend great wishes to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. Shiva Parvati is considered as the ideal couple in Indian tradition, where the thoughts of the wife have been accepted and respected. Shiva is also incomplete without Parvati in the Ardhanarishwar form. Respect the important, independent role of women in family and society.'

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, 'MahaShivRatri greetings to everyone.'

IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said,'May Lord Shiva bless you with health, wealth and prosperity on the festival of MahaShivratri'.

Textiles minister Smriti Irani said,'Great wishes to all the citizens on the occasion of Mahashivratri. May their be blessings of Shiva and Shakti on all of you. Har Har Mahadev.'

Railways minister Piyush Goyal said,'Wishes to people on the festival of Mahashivratri.May Lord Mahadev give us so much strength that with his blessing, we increase the pride of the country and continue to serve humanity.'
