Agency News

New Delhi, Mar 1 : Criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for holding a conference with poll booth workers of the BJP when Indian Air force pilot Abhinandan had been held captive by Pakistan, Congress leader and AICC general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (West) Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Friday that while his party cancelled its CWC meet, for the BJP and the Prime Minister it was business as usual.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2019 here, Scindia said, 'I was shocked. You have conducted a successful strike. We congratulated our jawans and pilots. One of our brave hero shot down an F-16, then he gets shot down in Pakistani airspace. He has been held captive by Pakistan and you are holding a conference with poll booth workers of the BJP. Jo aap keh rahe hain BJP ka booth majboot. Jab desh majboot hoga to har booth majboot hoga. (What you are saying BJP's booth management is strong. Let me tell you your country is strong, every booth will be strong," Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

Jyotiraditya Scindia pointed out that during this national security crisis, the Congress party cancelled its CWC meet, while the BJP, and the Prime Minister, carried on as if it was business as usual. "The Prime Minister's job is to defend the nation’s sovereignty," Jyotiraditya Scindia said.

The Congress leader said that the atmosphere of intolerance has aggravated under the Narendra Modi Government.

"The atmosphere of intolerance has got aggravated under the Modi Government. Look where we have reached. The situation in India in the past four-and-a-half-years is that things like mob lynching and cow vigilantism that were unheard of have become part of everyday discourse. What has the government done,' he asked.

He said these things never happened during the government of Dr Manmohan Singh. Scindia said the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will be held on grassroots issues.

"There are two types of governments: one that over-promises but under-delivers, the other is that under-promises but over-delivers. I prefer the latter one.The promises that Narendra Modi made in 2014 have not been delivered," he said. UNI
