New Delhi, Feb 27 : Amid the growing tension between India and Pakistan, Congress party on Wednesday postponed the meeting of its Working Committee (CWC) scheduled for Thursday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
“Congress president, Rahul Gandhi has postponed the meeting of CWC and Public meeting, both scheduled at Ahemdabad, Gujarat tomorrow, February 28, in view of the prevailing security condition”, said Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.
The meeting of CWC, highest decision making body of the party, was scheduled in Ahmedabad after 58 years; last time Ahmedabad hosted CWC was in 1961. The meeting was to be attended by Congress president, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and party’s newly appointed general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with other top leaders.
The Congress had also planned a Jan Sankalp Rally at Trimandir in Adalaj near capital Gandhinagar. However, in the wake of recent escalation of tension between India and Kashmir the party decided to postpone the CWC meeting and new date has not been announced. (UNI)
