Ranchi, Feb 20: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JVM(P) supremo Babulal Marandi today slammed the decision of the Speaker Court seeking the disqualification of the 6 MLAs and described the verdict as a black day for democracy.
In his reaction, Mr Marandi said that he did not expect such a wrong decision from the Speaker.
The JVM(P) supremo said that his verdict was against the 10th schedule of the constitution.
Mr Marandi said the Speaker has taken the decision under the pressure of the BJP and the government, however he would not keep quiet on the matter and would soon consult the experts and approach the high court.
He alleged that BJP had lured his MLAs with the pretext of providing post and power and claimed that in the next elections the people will teach a lesson to the BJP.
The opposition parties in the state have also expressed their disapproval towards the judgement of the Speaker Court related to the disqualification of the 6 MLAs with the main opposition party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha terming the decision as a surprising one.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here JMM central general secretary and party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said that he would not like to comment much on the verdict of the Speaker which he has taken by using his own intellect.
However the entire episode is related to the immoral behavior of the BJP, he said adding that when the matter would reach to the High Court that definitely it would take cognizance of the 10th schedule and the JVM(P) would justice.
He said that earlier also a similar incident had happened in Haryana when the High Court had overturned the decision of the speaker court and subsequently the decision was overturned and MLAs disqualified. (UNI)
