New Delhi, Feb 17 : Expressing serious concern at the attack on students and people belonging to Kashmir, which have taken place in different parts of the country, the CPI (M) on Sunday demanded both the Central, as well as state governments, to take firm steps against those resorting to hate campaign and violence.
'It is natural that people are aggrieved and saddened by the killing of 40 CRPF jawans in Pulwama. But to utilise this occasion to target innocent Kashmiris, is reprehensible,' the party politburo said in a statement here.
'Firm action must be taken against those resorting to hate campaign and violence,' it added. A few Kashmiri youths studying in various parts of India, earlier in the day, alleged that they were harassed in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack.
The Centre has asked all states on Saturday to ensure safety and security of the students and people from Jammu and Kashmir living in their areas, in the wake of threats issued to them in some states.
The advisory came soon after Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured an all-party meeting of doing the needful for the protection of Kashmiri students and people who were threatened, after the audacious terror attack. (UNI)
