New Delhi, Feb 9 : The ruling BJP on Saturday took a dig at opposition parties saying these are the same forces which once said 'Har Ghar se Afzal niklega' , but now they are throwing numerous candidates for Prime Ministership.
"Earlier there used to be only three or four Prime Ministerial candidates. But for the first time the country is faced with 25 to 30 Prime Ministers, which I think is good for the country - which is the sign of democratic powers to take on," BJP spokesperson and MP Meenakshi Lekhi told reporters here.
But sounding caustic, she said: "These are same power who used to say 'Har Ghar se Afzal Niklega' and now Har Ghar Se Pradhan Mantri nikal raha hae".
The remarks come in reference to the efforts being by over 20 opposition parties to come together to fight BJP-led NDA.
In last few days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also has slammed the opposition parties and their so called efforts to unite and called them a -'Maha Milavat'.
Ms Lekhi, who won from New Delhi parliamentary constituency in 2014, said: "They used to talk about Afzal coming out from every house, but now they are giving Prime Ministers. This augurs well for the country (Desh ke liye achha shagun hae)".
Answering questions on Twitter CEO defying to make appearance before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Technology, Ms Lekhi said, no one has the right to show disrespect to any constitutional and established institute.
"There will be repercussions ....There are repercussions because in any democratic country, institutions need to be respected by world power and if there are violation to any sort, then there are repercussions," she said.(UNI)
