New Delhi, Feb 6: As on date, 738 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK) have been allocated across the country covering 718 districts, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Out of allocated PMKKs, 535 PMKKs have been already established, said Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in a written reply.
Under Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is implementing a flagship scheme PMKVY 2016-20 and also promotes establishment of model and aspirational skill centres known as (PMKK) in every district for imparting skill training, he said.
PMKVY 2016-20 is being implemented with an objective to provide skilling to one crore people under Short Term Training (STT), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Special Project (SP) across the country for four years i e 2016-2020 with an outlay of Rs 12,000 crore.
This scheme has two components known as Centrally Sponsored Centrally Managed (CSCM) being implemented by NSDC and Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM) being implemented by State Skill Development Missions of the States/ UTs.
PMKVY 2016-20 does not mandate the establishment of skill development centres, however, enables large number of prospective youth for taking up Short Term Training (STT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) through accredited and affiliated training centers throughout the country.
Under the scheme, for imparting the skill training, the accreditation and affiliation of centres are being done under single window IT application known as SMART.
Also, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is promoting establishment of model and aspirational skill centres known as PMKK in every district for imparting skill training through PMKVY 2016-20, the Minister said. (UNI)
