New Delhi, Feb 6 : The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday was adjourned till 2pm amid uproar by Opposition members over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) issue in Assam.
After laying of the papers, Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu informed the House that two members have sought permission to remain absent from the Upper House which was granted.
He also suggested the members to write valid reasons for taking leave from the House. While the Chairman was speaking, Congress member Ripu Bora raised the NRC issue in Assam and waved the newspaper clippings on it.
Joining Mr Bora were the members of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) who also started raising slogans on this issue. Repeated pleas by the Chair to agitating members to maintain discipline fell on deaf ears and amid continuing pandemonium, Mr Naidu adjourned the House till 2pm. UNI
