VHP puts off temple agitation

The Vishawa Hindu Parishad has  said  that it would hold off its agitation for a Ram Mandir at Ayodhya until April.

'We are  putting off the protests because we do not  want to make it an election issue (chunavi mudda)',  a senior VHP leader, Mr.  Surendra Jain said.

As General Elections approach, several right organisations are mounting pressure on the Central Government to have a temple built at the disputed site in Ayodhya. The Supreme Court is currently holding hearings to settle the dispute.

Hindu organisations want the Centre to resort to issuing an ordinance to have the temple built.

The Lok Sabha elections Elections are scheduled for April-May.
