New Delhi, Feb 5 : Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Tuesday lashed out at the sloganeering Trinamool Congress members for their continuous 'protest' on the CBI-cops row in West Bengal and said all institutions have their respective responsibilities to discharge.
"The case is being heard in the Supreme Court. You will not trust CBI, you do not seem to trust Supreme Court also....Such sloganeering cannot go on. This does not serve any purpose," Speaker told Trinamool Congress members who had trooped into the well led by chief whip Kalyan Banerjee raising anti-CBI and anti-government slogans.
"Aap apne aap hi samajhdaar ho (You seem to believe only in what you say and think)," she said during Question Hour.
"All institutions have their respective job to discharge," Speaker said.
Paradoxically, the first listed question of the day pertained to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and the first member allowed to ask question was Trinamool Congress lawmaker Dinesh Trivedi.
However, as soon as Mr Trivedi was up on his feet to ask supplementary query, his party colleagues led by chief whip Kalyan Banerjee rushed to the well of the House.
Among others Arpita Ghosh, Kakoli Ghoshdastidar, Saugat Roy and Aparupa Poddar also joined in sloganeering.
They were soon joined by TDP members led by former Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and the protesting MPs raised slogans such as 'CBI Tota hae'.
Samajwadi Party member Dharmendra Yadav also joined the members raising anti-government slogans.
But as there was no let up in the situation, the Speaker adjourned the House till 12 noon.
On Monday also, the Question Hour was washed off over protest and ruckus created by opposition members.(UNI)
