New Delhi, Feb 5 : The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 1400 hrs on Tuesday after the opposition members created a ruckus over the issue of alleged misuse of the CBI by the Centre.
Soon after laying of the papers, Derek O’Brien of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) rose and said, “I have given notice for suspension of business and discuss the West Bengal issue.”
At this, the Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu asked him to raise the issue during Zero Hour.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel appealed to all political parties to cooperate in smooth functioning of the House.
“I appeal to all members not to politicise the President’s address. Ten hours have been allotted for it. The West Bengal government is preventing the CBI from discharging its duty. They are creating a constitutional crisis.”
Soon after, the TMC, TDP and the Samajwadi Party members entered into the Well and started raising slogans against the BJP government and the CBI, leading to the adjournment of the House.
This was second day in a row that no business held during the Question Hour. (UNI)
