New Delhi, Feb 5 : The Congress on Tuesday made key appointments in various committees in different states to look after the election process before the Lok Sabha polls.
In a release, issued by AICC general secretary, organisation in-charge KC Venugopal, the Congress said that the party has appointed Pradesh election committee, campaign committee, publicity committee, coordination committee, and media coordination committee for Punjab, Gujarat, Goa and Puducherry.
The grand old party has also re-constituted the Himachal Pradesh Pradesh Congress Committee and appointed 15 vice presidents, 16 general secretaries and 36 secretaries, while Ashish Butail will be the treasurer.
In Punjab, the party appointed Lok Sabha MP Sunil Jakhar as election committee chairperson, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh as chairperson of campaign committee, Vijay Inder Singla as chairperson of publicity committee, Manish Tiwari as chairperson of media coordination committee, and 20 members for coordination committee.
In Gujarat, while Rajeev Satav will be appointed chairman of coordination committee, Siddhartha Patel will be the chairman of campaign committee and Alpesh Takur will be its convener.
The party also formed a 28-member election committee and 36-member coordination committee.
The Congress has recently faced a set back as its North Gujarat, Unja MLA Ashaben Patel resigned from the party, citing infighting between different groups.
In Puducherry, Chief Minister V Narayanaswamy will be chairman of coordination committee and A Namassivayam will be the chairman of election committee, M Kandasamy will be chairman of campaign committee and RKR Anantharaman will be its convener.
While Girish Chodankar was appointed as chairman of election committee in Goa, Dr A Chella Kumar as chairman, Amit Deshmukh as vice chairman and Girish Chodankar as convener of coordination committee and Ramakant Kalap as chairman of media coordination committee.
