RK Shukla takes over as CBI Director

New Delhi, Feb 4: Mr Rishi Kumar Shukla, an IPS officer of 1983 Batch (Madhya Pradesh Cadre) on Monday took over as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation.

Before joining the CBI, he was serving as Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Police Housing. He has also worked as DGP of Madhya Pradesh for more than two years.

Mr Shukla has served in various positions during his long tenure of about 35 years in the IPS, including as SP of Damoh, Shivpuri, Mandsor; DIG; IGP and ADG.

He has also worked in the Intelligence Bureau.

Mr Shukla is a Post-Graduate in Philosophy. He has been decorated with the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2007 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1999. He has attended various important training programmes organised by prestigious institutions in the country and abroad including the USA and the UK, etc.

After taking over as Director, CBI, Mr Shuka emphasised that the Agency has a glorious tradition and has great esteem in the eyes of the public, with a lot of expectations from them. "Therefore, we have to focus on professional skills."(UNI)
