New Delhi, Feb 3 : The Central Bureau of Investigation will move to Supreme Court on Monday after the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sat on a dharna in Kolkata against the agency which moved to visit Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
The CBI team was stopped by the Kolkata Police to visit the city police chief’s residence on Sunday evening. The probe agency has accused the West Bengal Government of impending investigation of a Supreme Court ordered investigation in to a Chit fund scam and expected to demand an action against the state Government and the state police.
A top source in the probe agency said that the state Government is not co operating and therefore, the CBI is most likely move to SC for the intervention.
It may be recalled that that in May 2014, the SC had handed over the investigation of Sharda chit fund case to CBI. According to CBI, the Kolkata Police chief Rajiv Kumar who headed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sharda and Rose Valley ponzi scheme surfaced in 2013, is not cooperating the investigation agency.
